Atlas Roof & Wall Insulation is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Manager Plant Engineer for the Phoenix, AZ polyiso foam manufacturing facility.
Industrial Maintenance Manager/Plant Engineer Primary Responsibilities
- Maintains safe working environment by assuring maintenance dept complies with all rules and regulations of the manufacturing plant. These include, but are not limited to: Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space, Electrical Safety, ArcFlash, Elevated Working Surfaces, Hazard Communication (SDS), Hot Work, and Process Safety Management
- Suggests operational process improvements to Production Management and Plant Manager.
- Able to contribute fully to capability assessment during product and process development and translate those needs in functional design.
- Participates in, and/or Supervises the Maintenance Department
- Repairs, maintains, and installs plant’s machines and equipment.
- Performs electrical/electronic maintenance, construction, layout, installation, repairs and controls according to established practices and methods.
- Assembles, disassembles or installs mechanical, electrical/electronic equipment working from engineering drawings, field sketches, other related documents and verbal field instructions needed to perform assigned duties.
- Uses and operates tools and/or any equipment with proficiency in performing work of the craft.
- Adjusts, repairs and replaces faulty parts in plant machinery and equipment.
- Analyzes, troubleshoots and performs maintenance and repairs of any plant mechanical and/or electrical systems.
- Cleans and maintains motors, pumps and parts.
- Complete required records and reports
- Moves equipment as required using powered or manually operated equipment assigned.
- Operates forklift and man lifts. Performs operator inspection of equipment; checks fluid levels and various component systems for malfunctions. Charges and changes batteries. Completes daily vehicle inspection form.
- Maintains and repairs plant building and grounds items (including but not limited to walls, floors, roofs, windows, drains, piping, roads, sidewalks, docks, etc.).
- Responds to production service calls.
- Participates in the safety and good housekeeping programs as established within the plant.
- Maintains plant preventative maintenance programs while utilizing Maintscape, including the Mechanical Integrity element of Process Safety Management (PSM)
- Estimates costs related to layout design, including equipment and materials, labor, etc. and monitors the construction process
- Resolves technical problems and recommends production improvements
- Maintains maintenance / engineering records, reports, and plant drawings, including Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P & I D’s) of PSM.
- Assures outside contractor compliance w/ Contractors Agreement including, but not limited to: general safety training, LOTO, Confined Space Entry Permits, Hot Work Permits, Hazard Communication (SDS exchange), and Personal Protective Equipment. Maintains outside Contractor Agreement records.
- Develops capital wish list, and submits for approval projects that will improve efficiencies, increase capacity, lower operating costs, and/or reduces labor costs.
- Oversees capital projects to assure they are on time and on budget.
- Directs outside vendors in routine and non-routine maintenance of manufacturing and building services equipment.
- Directs outside vendors in regular plant services, including but not limited to: lawn maintenance, snow removal, and pest control.
- Performs other related duties consistent with the nature of the job as directed by the plant manager.
- Some travel as required.
Industrial Maintenance Manager/Plant Engineer Education & Experience
- Associate degree or equivalent from minimum two-year college or technical school.
- Or two-year related experience and/or training
- Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Knowledge and experience with A.B. RS Logix500, RS logix5000, Control Logix, PanelView, HMI configurations
- Three (3) to Five (5) years of relevant experience including 480V 3PH, 110V, low voltage, control loops, troubleshooting and programming PLC’s, ladder logic, VFD’s, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
Industrial Maintenance Manager/Plant Engineer Skills & Abilities
- PC Literate, ability to effectively utilize Excel (spreadsheet), Word, Maintscape preventative maintenance program, email.
- Ability to read, interpret, and make changes to ladder logic, plc programming.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization.
- Ability to work with, and apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to forecasting and other practical situations.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
