Job Description

SUMMARY

As a vital member of the Port of Indecision & Harbor Landing Marina team, the Marina Manager, reporting directly to the Head of Operations, is responsible for overseeing all daily marina activities. This role focuses on maintaining the highest standards in service, safety, and operational efficiency. The Marina Manager plays a key role in enhancing the guest experience, managing staff, ensuring financial success, maintaining regulatory compliance, and engaging with the community. The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional, skilled in fostering a positive workplace culture and implementing strategic plans that align with Margaritaville at Lanier Islands' mission of delivering outstanding boating experiences. The role includes contributing to long-term strategic planning to maximize and grow marina revenue.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Operational Leadership:
  • Direct and manage the marina's overall operations, ensuring high standards of service, safety, and financial performance.
  • Team Management:
  • work with HR to recruit, train, and supervise staff while fostering a positive work environment. Set performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and encourage professional growth.
  • Customer Service Excellence:
  • Ensure outstanding customer service by addressing guest inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally. Enhance guest satisfaction across all touchpoints.
  • Financial Oversight:
  • Develop and manage budgets in collaboration with the VP of Operations. Monitor financial performance, collect and report revenue, and implement cost-effective measures.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Stay updated on industry best practices and any regulatory changes.
  • Facility and Equipment Maintenance:
  • Oversee routine maintenance and coordinate timely repairs to maintain high safety standards. Ensure equipment and facilities, including docks and the rental fleet, are well-maintained and clean.
  • Staff and Scheduling:
  • Manage staff scheduling, hours, and payroll. Assign tasks and follow up to ensure timely completion of daily responsibilities.
  • Inventory and Sales:
  • Oversee inventory, ordering of resale items, and cost accountability. Implement dock rental sales processes and maintain tenant standards, documenting any violations or overdue accounts.
  • Community Engagement:
  • Work with Marketing to build and maintain positive relationships with local businesses, community members, and authorities. Seek opportunities for community involvement and partnerships.
  • Performance Monitoring:
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reports on operational performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Availability:
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed to support marina operations.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in the Harbor Landing Office, Docks & POI. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and clean MVR for 3 years.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field (preferred) or two years’ related experience.
  • Proven experience in marina management or a similar leadership role within the marine, hospitality or operations field/industry.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in marina operations.
  • Excellent organizational and financial management abilities.
  • Availability for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts is essential to meet the operational needs of the marina.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field (preferred) or two years’ related experience in a relevant field/position.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES  Valid Drivers license and clean three year MVR.
