Job Description

Compa Industries is searching for qualified candidates for a Project Manager position at the Los Alamos National Laborator y in Los Alamos, NM.

Salary: $60/hr - $65/hr

Location: Onsite in Los Alamos, NM

Citizenship: US citizenship Required

Work Schedule: Flexible - Days or Graveyard

Clearance: Must already have a Q clearance

Per Diem/Relocation: Approved

Join the Construction Management (CM) Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory and play a key role in leading critical construction projects that support national security and scientific research. As a Project Manager 2 / Superintendent 3 , you will drive projects exceeding $500K , ensuring efficient execution while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards. Your leadership will directly contribute to the Lab’s mission by overseeing project teams, optimizing construction processes, and mitigating project risks.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Project Leadership – Oversee construction projects and upgrades, managing scope, budget, and schedule, including Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
  • Supervision – Provide oversight to Superintendent 2s , ensuring seamless execution of project tasks.
  • Risk Management – Identify potential risks, implement mitigation strategies, and execute corrective actions.
  • Control Account Management (CAM) – Plan, budget, and manage costs, schedules, and performance objectives for projects.
  • Regulatory Compliance – Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Interface with program managers, project teams, and regulatory bodies, providing clear project updates and reports.
  • Technical Oversight – Review blueprints, schematics, and technical documents, ensuring constructability and compliance with engineering standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active DOE Q Clearance (Required)
  • Extensive Construction Management Expertise – Experience leading complex construction projects, including upgrades, renovations, and decommissioning & decontamination (D&D).
  • Leadership & Supervision – Proven ability to manage teams, schedules, and resources in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Project Controls Experience – Hands-on experience managing budgets, schedules, and risk assessments using EVMS .
  • Technical Proficiency – Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, and structural documents and oversee constructability reviews.
  • Safety & Compliance Knowledge – Strong understanding of work hazards, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and safety regulations in high-risk environments.
  • Union Labor Experience – Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements across multiple trades.

Desired Skills

  • Experience working in a nuclear environment .
  • Demonstrated expertise in facility maintenance and construction management , including systems engineering, safety/authorization basis, and configuration management programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address project challenges and implement corrective actions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills , including report preparation and presentations for senior management.
  • Ability to adapt to flexible schedules , including working day and graveyard shifts.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience, including at least 5+ years in engineering, procurement, and construction leadership roles.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered in place of a degree.
