Benefits Contractor

The Jeni's Human Resources function is looking for a (approximately) 5-20 hour-per-week independent contractor resource who will serve as an extension of our team, expertly and thoroughly managing employee benefits programs, benefits-related compliance and communication, and answering all employee benefits-related questions.

This person should have significant prior benefits-management and benefits-compliance experience such that they can work independently and with a best-practice level of competence.

Responsibilities include:

• Coordinating employee benefits enrollment, updates for life events, and serving as the point of contact for employee questions pertaining to benefits plans.
• 401k plan participant enrollment, and managing other 401k plan-related tasks including scheduling and administrative duties in collaboration with our plan fiduciary partner.
• Coordinating meetings and communication with our benefits brokerage firm, HRIS, and benefits carrier.
• Understanding our benefits-related compliance obligations (in relation to ERISA, ACA, and COBRA, HIPPA, etc…) and carrying out related compliance activities and obligations.
• Reviewing benefits-related billing and enrollment for accuracy and completeness.
• Partnering with HRIS, Payroll, third party administrators and insurance carriers to resolve eligibility and enrollment questions and concerns.
• Reviewing benefits-related education opportunities, selecting ones of value, and scheduling/coordinating such events for our team members.
• Supporting the CPO and CFO annually during the annual renewal season and open enrollment by generating reports and evaluating options to continuously improve our benefits offerings, and use our resources wisely.

Sometimes this independent contractor will have very few hours of work in a given week but there will also be times, such as during open enrollment, when the workload will be sizeable. The right person for this role will have flexibility to expand and contract their time spent on Jeni's as a client based on the given needs of each day/week.
