e184 is an Advanced Research Funding Organization (ARFO) that supports frontier science and technology. We’re founded and backed by Kirill Eves, the founder of Unlimit.com, one of the largest global payment infrastructures.

Our operating model takes the best from deep-tech VC funds and Focused Research Organizations (FROs). Since our foundation, we’ve backed stellar Paterna Bioscience, supported a neurotech initiative at the London Imperial College Neurotech Society, and developed collaborations with numerous scientific organizations worldwide.

Role overview

As the communications lead (science journalist), you'll be the top voice responsible for promoting our brand and narrative. You’ll be producing content and collaborating with individual scientists and research teams, decision-makers, and external media to boost our recognition and thought leadership within the scientific community and biotechnology sector.

What you will do

• Participate in internal discussions about our media strategy, take ownership of the domain and contribute by developing and putting together its essential attributes.
• Develop a content plan.
• Produce original and high-quality thematic content (writings, videos, online and offline events); identify and manage additional generative tools and human resources required for smooth and timely production.
• Identify and collaborate with relevant media venues to publish our content.
• Engage with the audience, drive external collaborations, and propose valuable sponsorship opportunities (scientific conferences, charities, educational events, etc.).
• Propose performance KPIs and track the performance of our media efforts.

What we look for

• Science journalist experience is a must
• A strong publication record with you as an author in science and technology magazines or relevant digital media is a must (not peer-reviewed publications, not ads, not ghostwriting)
• Excellent written and verbal English is a must.
• Talent for translating complex scientific ideas into engaging content; familiarity with the history of relevant scientific breakthroughs and accompanying public discussions.
• Clear thinking style and understanding of how modern digital media works (publication venues, content types, virality, audience engagement, credibility, narratives, production tools, etc.).
• Organizational skills.
• Experience in startup environments and comfort with ambiguity is an advantage.
• Background in scientific roles is a big advantage.
