The Director of Women’s Services supports the Labor and Delivery Unit, Postpartum, and Nursery/NICU Units. The Director reports to the Chief Nursing Officer. The Director is accountable for high-quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care.
This leader will assume full responsibility for assisting in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating nursing practice on each unit. The Director will supervise and evaluate work activities of all nursing personnel and provide clinical leadership and set strategic and long-term goals for the nursing staff. The Director will assess performance objectives for each nursing unit and organize, coordinate, develop and review policies, procedures and nursing protocols to meet all regulatory, compliance and quality care standards. The Director is responsible for the quality of care, operational and financial efficiency (budgeting) of the nursing unit along with the patient experience. The Director will lead and professionally develop the nursing staff within the unit, providing performance goals, feedback and development opportunities. In addition, the Director is responsible for recruitment, hiring and training of personnel and will chair committees as assigned. May provides direct care as needed.
Role assumes 24/7 responsibility for the Director’s assigned areas. Responsibilities:
• Active and current Registered Nurse license in the state of North Carolina.

• Ability to serve as role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing.

Essential Functions
Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal and ethical requirements/objectives of the organizations. Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives. Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives. Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits. Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth. Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree from recognized college or university required (BSN preferred); Master's Degree highly preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
BLS required
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) required
Licenses: Current NC RN licensure.
Minimum Work Experience
Minimum 5 years RN experience
Minimum 2 years management experience preferred.
