We are combining breakthroughs in synthetic biology, machine learning, and manufacturing to fundamentally extend healthy human lifespans. We’re looking for passionate team members who want to shape the future.

Role Summary:

We are seeking a High-Performance Computing (HPC) Specialist to manage, optimize, and support our advanced computational infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of our HPC resources, primarily on cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), and will play a critical role in enabling our scientists and machine learning specialists to perform large-scale simulations and data analyses. This position requires deep technical expertise in HPC systems, cloud computing, and software optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, configure, and maintain HPC resources on cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), including compute instances, storage solutions, and networking.
  • Install, compile, and optimize scientific software packages, molecular dynamics engines, quantum chemistry codes, and machine learning frameworks for optimal performance on CPUs and GPUs.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations to enhance computational throughput and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools (Python, Bash) for job submission, resource management, and workflow automation.
  • Provide expert technical support and consultation to researchers and machine learning specialists on HPC best practices, including effective GPU utilization.
  • Explore and implement emerging HPC technologies and paradigms, including considerations for quantum software compilation and execution environments.
  • Manage data storage, transfer, and archival in a high-performance computing context.
  • Ensure system security and compliance with relevant data handling policies.
  • Stay current with advancements in HPC hardware, software, cloud services, and quantum computing infrastructure.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. (Individuals with equivalent demonstrated practical experience will also be considered).
  • Proven experience in managing and supporting HPC environments, particularly on cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS).
  • Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix operating systems and Bash scripting.
  • Demonstrable experience with Python for scripting and automation in an HPC context.
  • Experience with compiling, installing, and optimizing scientific applications and libraries.
  • Understanding of HPC performance optimization techniques for both CPU and GPU architectures.
  • Familiarity with job schedulers (e.g., Slurm, PBS, AWS Batch, Azure Batch).
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant hands-on experience with GPU computing (NVIDIA CUDA, AMD ROCm) and optimizing workloads for GPU utilization.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Singularity/Apptainer) in an HPC setting.
  • Familiarity with parallel file systems (e.g., Lustre, BeeGFS) and high-performance networking (e.g., InfiniBand).
  • Knowledge of quantum computing principles and initial experience or strong interest in quantum software compilation tools or platforms.
  • Experience in supporting computational chemistry, bioinformatics, or machine learning workloads.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud computing (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator Associate).

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage.
  • Opportunity to define a new therapeutic‑design paradigm and see your work progress through the clinic.
