Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-sufficient individual to join one of the nation’s largest utility companies as a Damage Prevention Investigator. This company provides electric and gas energy, which means they have both above-ground and below-ground infrastructure, including pipes, transmission poles, substations, distribution poles, and more. In the growing service areas of IN, OH, MN, and TX, these physical assets can be damaged for various reasons, such as excavation, bad weather, falling trees, car accidents, and more. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing damage reports and pictures provided by field technicians to understand the root cause, ensure compliance, and establish a course of action to prevent future damages. As you do this, you are creating Damage Prevention Packets that you will submit to the Safety Compliance team. With thousands of reported cases each year, the ability to multitask and communicate effectively will be crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Public Awareness and Damage Prevention Supervisor.
  • Collaborating with field technicians, survey crews, and damage prevention coordinators.
  • Reviewing damage cases across IN, TX, OH, and MN, and understanding state codes and regulations.
  • Working within internal systems to document cases and correct any errors.
  • Compiling packets for each case, including location, damage, cause, course of action, and witness details.
  • Connecting with the parties involved in the damages to educate and train them on the course of action after packets are completed.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a professional position involving investigation or compliance.
  • Experience writing documents, gathering requirements, and explaining work to various groups.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with various departments while also being able to work independently.

Pluses:

  • Knowledge of the utility industry.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
